The Tanzania-Kenya borderland span 16 protected areas ranging from Serengeti-Mara to Tsavo-Mkomazi and supports one of the largest bush savanna elephant (Loxodonta africana) populations in Africa. Herds range widely beyond parks, across community land and between the two countries. The programs listed below protect these migratory and vulnerable herds by promoting stakeholder collaboration in all aspects of conservation, including research, monitoring and community initiatives.
